BLIND ACCESSIBILITY SHOWCASE
Summary
Sense of Stealth is an action-stealth showcase of accessibility solutions for visually impaired users, where players can navigate a 3D environment, tackle objectives, and neutralise enemies - all while experiencing total blindness. This showcase formed my major final-year project at university, where I scored full marks (100/100) and learned how to develop more inclusively.
HOW?
The prototype uses a spatialised audio solution for Unreal Engine 5, as well as force feedback (gamepad haptics) of varying intensities depending on the context (aiming at an enemy vs. aiming at an obstacle).
These solutions work in tandem with design languages and UX principles to effectively substitute visual information within the prototype.
Players can leverage these techniques to weave between obstacles, interact with objects, and use a free-aiming system to distract or takedown guards.

ACHIEVEMENTS
WHY?
Inspired by my Producer internship at EA working with UX and User Research teams, as well as stories of visually impaired players being unable to experience new releases at the same time as their able-bodied friends, this prototype is an example of how accessible solutions can be validated in the early stages of production. Reducing the risk involved in further development and increasing the likelihood of withstanding production realities to reach all players at launch.
